BREAKING NEWS : The East coast of Dominican Republic, which is experiencing one of the biggest tourist development of these last years, is preparing to welcome many vacationists who chose to spend their holidays there.

These estimates include the tourist who will sleep in hotels of the zone, and those who will live with their friends or family.

According to these, only in the Bávaro zone, there are 31.500 available rooms for 56 hotels, while in Bayahibe we can find 4000, as in Miches, Sabana de la Mar and El Valle. The Juan Dolio and San Pedro de Macorís area adds itself to the tourist crowds.

The commercial dynamic exceeds the 400 millions pesos for the 4 last days of the week.

The 56 hotels of the Bávaro zone have already an occupancy rate of 85%. The spokesperson of the hoteliers of the East zone said the growth of the area was stable and that some hotels opened this year, making the area even more attractive.

The East coast is preparing to receive more than 30000 tourists for the long week-end of the holy week, while rescue organisms will help and watch persons of the beaches and the roads.

BREAKING NEWS :Bávaro. - The Punta Cana Foundation conducted the program Think on it well, baby, in the Ann & Ted Kheel Polytechnic, aimed at creating awareness on pregnancy in young girls.

In the program participated 240 girl high school students, aged from 12 to 17.

We feel that ignorance and the lack of guidance are some of the serious problems youngsters face nowadays, that’s the reason for our concern to maintaining prevention and assistance programs directed to the youth, said Punta Cana Foundation director Paul Beswick.

As part of the program the students are given for three days a toy baby, programmed to behave similarly to a real, for the young girls to experience the care of an offspring and realize that it’s a great responsibility, contributing to prevent adolescent pregnancies.

BREAKING NEWS: The National Association of the Hotels and Restaurants, (Asonahores) announced its tenth edition of Dominican Annuel Tourism Exchange (DATE), the most important event of marketing of the Dominican tourist product.

The launching of the DATE took place during a cocktail carried out at the Seasons Restaurant, of Santo Domingo, and had the participation of the representatives of the principal hotel chains, of the companies of sponsorship and personalities related to the tourism industry.

The event, sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, will proceed in the installations of the Conventions Center of the Barceló Complex in Bávaro, from April 20 to April 22.

This one is based exclusively on the offer existing in the country; by offering a professional scene on which the international tour operators and the suppliers of the national tourist product will be able to meet and to define strategies in joint businesses.

The official program of the DATE 2009 is enriched by evenings organized for the pleasure of its delegates: inaugural reception of April 20 to the Grand Hotel Iberostar Bávaro and the next evening, the traditional Dominican night in The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real.

In addition to these activities, one will carry out, within the framework of the event, the launching of the Punta Cana Fashion Week, organized by Dominicana Moda; and putting into circulation the new edition of Dominican Republic Vacation Planner, official tourist guide of promotion of the country.

The Centro Cuesta Nacional (CCN) will exhibit in a colored house its extraordinary campaign: Samaná, Pride of my Land.

In addition to the support of the organizations mentioned, the DATE is sponsored by the Dominican Popular Bank, the Dominican National Brewery, AERODOM, Ocean World, Prieto Tours, VisaNet, CODETEL, Caribbean Traveling Network (CTN) and Hospiten.
